Meet Leo.

(Written May 2026):

The Jaeger family—Tom, Melissa, George (13), Leo (10), and June (3)—are a close-knit, energetic family from Blaine, Minnesota. Their home is filled with sports, laughter, competition, and a deep love for one another. George is a gentle and protective older brother, June is a fearless firecracker, and Leo sits right in the middle—full of heart, energy, and determination. Together, they are a family that shows up for each other through everything.

Leo was just eight months old when his parents knew something wasn’t right. What began as concerns over infections quickly turned into devastating news—Leo was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH), a rare disease causing tumors to form and destroy bone in his skull. Within days, he underwent surgery and began chemotherapy. Months of treatments followed—hospital stays, physical therapy, and powerful medications that took a toll on his small body. Yet through it all, Leo never stopped smiling. His strength and spirit quickly became evident to everyone around him—he refused to let his illness define him.

When initial treatments failed, a breakthrough came through genetic testing, revealing a mutation that made Leo eligible for a targeted immunotherapy drug. After an emotional wait for approval, Leo began treatment—and within weeks, his condition improved dramatically. By mid-2017, Leo was cancer-free.

For years, Leo continued treatment and monitoring, growing into an active, sports-loving kid who embraced life fully. In early 2025, he was able to stop medication, and hope was high. But later that year, the cancer returned. Once again, Leo faced the fight—this time with new challenges, including complications that forced him to step away from the activities he loves most.

Even in the face of recurrence, Leo continues to show incredible determination. Whether pushing through pain to perform in his school play or battling back on the basketball court with his team, Leo embodies what it means to persevere. He is back on treatment and responding well, but his journey is far from over. The ongoing care required to keep him healthy is significant, but his family continues to face it with strength and faith.

Through it all, the Jaeger family leans on each other and the support of their community. Their children continue to show remarkable resilience, reminding everyone around them what true strength looks like.

LEO IS STILL FIGHTING
