Meet Sawyer.

From the family:

Sawyer is a 3-year-old charismatic, funny, imaginative, and smart little boy. Prior to his diagnosis, he was very small and was being treated by several specialists for failure to thrive. On September 18th, 2020, bloodwork from the Endocrinologist revealed Leukemia. Sawyer was sent to Masonic Children’s Hospital to begin treatment immediately. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Sawyer is responding well to treatment and has 2years left of treatments if all goes as planned to reach remission. His current treatment entails daily oral chemo meds and steroids, weekly physical therapy appointments, weekly IV Chemo infusions, weekly medical trauma therapy sessions to help with his anxiety, and spinal fluid biopsies every 6-8 weeks.

Sawyer’s diagnosis has had a tremendous effect on our family. It has caused physical, mental, social, and financial hardships for all of us. Having a child diagnosed with cancer during a pandemic is even more trying than ever. We have not been able to go anywhere or do anything, even with family, because of Sawyer’s compromised immune system and the risk of exposure to germs. It limits the things our family can safely do.
